I have a bit of a situation. I have a fairly decent size of wanting to become reenactors that would like to start our own group. The reason for this is we cannot find any local reenactors in our area. I have read and read every form of literature I can get my hands on but as of right now i just feel as my head is spinning. The problem is we have researched a couple of actual units and so on but cannot find anything that suites the majority of the group. We have a wide variey of gender, age, and physical ability. I need to know if anyone has any suggestions for me ? Am I possibly over looking an easy way of doing this besides joing another unit?Any info would be greatly appreciated. If this matters, at this time the men voted reenacting men from CSA . So I would assume some form of any group from that time period. So far Calvary is out. Thank You!

We are a family friendly organization that strives to portray, as authentically as possible, the life of the northern Civil War soldier. We are primarily looking for those that wish to portray the 148th New York soldier however, persons/families that wish to portray civilians would also be welcomed. Also, any persons wishing to be a musician/drummer would be welcomed.
A brief history of the 148th New York, dubbed the "gallant 148th" that you would be a member of:

Raised in the summer of 1862 as part of President Lincoln's call for an additional 300,000 men to suppress the rebellion, the 148th New York filled its ranks primarily with men from Yates, Seneca, and Ontario counties, the Finger Lakes Region of the great state of New York. Seeing mostly garrison duty in the area of Norfolk,VA during its first year of service, the 148th New York went on to forge an outstanding reputation for gallantry in such actions as Fair Oaks, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Chaffins Farm, Drewry's Bluff, Rice's Station, Burke's Station, and Appomattox Court House. the 148th saw 5 of its members win the Congressional Medal of Honor during its time of service.
We still have many more events slated for the 2008 season. If you are interested in becoming a member or just talking about the Civil War and/or this regiment from Western New York, please contact us today. I hope to have our website up and running by the winter of this year. Until then, please email me at cgavette23@gmail.com
